    2012 Is a Pink Year

    Hi-Lo Photos

Every other year the Kenai is bubbling with pink salmon (Humpies), and this August they will be returning by the millions to spawn . Pink salmon has been misrepresented as “undesirable eating” by many, but it is my opinion that once you brine and smoke it, pink salmon is just as good as all the other salmon. I also use them for canned salmon, unless I mark them, I can’t tell which jar is sockeye and which is humpie. And with a bag limit of 6 per day it is easy to stock up on fish.
Pinks are a great way to introduce kids or non-anglers to fishing. It is almost impossible not to catch them if you have a line in the water.

We are pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Silver Fox Charters to offer our guest a few new fishing options for the 2012 season.

Silver Fox Charters is located in breathtaking Homer, Alaska and has been serving the fishing public since 1974. They are one of Alaska’s most established charter businesses.Their customers have caught more halibut weighing over 100 pounds than any other charter business in Homer. No one travels farther and works harder to provide a quality full day fishing experience.

In addition to our regular halibut charters, we will be offering multi-species trips during July and August. These trips are a full day targeting, halibut, ling cod, and rock fish. They also offer an overnight long range trip that includes meals, hot showers and two FULL days fishing. Not only do these trips provide a chance at double limits, but also increases your odds on catching that giant trophy halibut.
